SEDANIA Travelneeds2u and Abacus Indonesia organizes Global Starter Pack Briefing & Training

SEDANIA Travelneeds2u Sdn Bhd (ST2u) and PT Abacus Distribution Systems Indonesia (ABACUS ID) have jointly organized the Global Starter Pack (GSP) Briefing & Training, held on the 20th of May 2009, at ABACUS ID head office in Jl Mampang Prapatan No 93, Jakarta, Indonesia.
Due to the growing need for travel agents to look for additional sources of income, in light with the airlines moving towards zero-commission for ticket sales, this briefing introduces a new cost-effective and innovative commission-based revenue stream that will be a welcome benefit to travel agents.
Over 50 travel agents from Jakarta have participated in this briefing, and the overall response has been overwhelmingly good. Travel agents are very eager to participate in this program which will launch simultaneously in Malaysia as well as Indonesia by Q2 of 2009.
The Global Starter Pack (GSP) is a program where it integrates the product offered: a local SIM pack provided by the partnering telecommunications provider (telco) of the destination country, whereby it is provided to the traveler upon arrival at their destination airport; as well as the service: front-end integration between ST2u's web portal at www.travelneeds2u.com and Abacus Whiz for the point-of sale, and back-end integration with IATA Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP) providing a seamless and already-proven billing and remittance solution to travel agents.
This business-to-business interaction shows ST2u as a consolidator and integrator in bringing the computer reservation system used by travel agents coupled together with the billing and settlement process.
Travel agents will have numerous benefits if they sign up for this program. It provides travel agents with a new commission-based revenue stream, as well as creating an additional marketing proposition to attract customers. Furthermore, the seamless integration between Abacus Whiz and IATA provides travel agents with a convenient, innovative and cost-effective way of selling. Travel agents will also be provided with an online reporting tool facility via ST2u's web portal to track and monitor sales.
As for the travelers, it provides them with a convenient and easy way to purchase the GSP. Travelers will also get connected immediately with a local number, as well as providing them with a cheaper alternative to expensive roaming charges. The GSP comes with one standard packaging globally, enabling travelers to identify the GSP brand wherever they travel. By purchasing the GSP, travelers avoid the hassle of having to look for a local SIM card upon arrival. In addition, they may also enjoy value added services offered which is bundled with their GSP, in the form of mobile vouchers or discounts covering travel needs such as entertainment, food and beverages, accommodation, transportation, places of interest, or even for emergencies.
